The rescues

Today Blogger unite for rescue dogs so I need to tell you about some of the great dogs my Dad rescued

First up is Tonto he was a 10 year old timber wolf left  in a house for about 30 days when the people that had him went to jail. They had seen no need to take of their dogs and left them there to starve. Dad found out about it a came in to save Tonto and two other pups. Well when he got Tonto home he weighed 50 lbs, he was well under weight and very afraid all he did was howled, so dad got on the floor and held him tight and that how they slept all night. The next morning they were best friends. They started on the road to healing and got Tonto back to a healthy weight. The love the two of them shared was what kept Tonto going for another 7 years. He passed away at the age of 17 happy. The other two dogs that were saved that day went on to live healthy lives in their forever homes.

Next on Dads list was Jessie, She came to dad as a puppy that had been severely beaten and burned with cigarettes because the could not house train her at 7 weeks. She was a very hard dog to work with because she was so afraid of people. Dad got to work winning her trust and working on her manors. She was a great dog that learned to overcome her fears and help others. At the young age of 1.5 she passed her visiting pet test and went to work helping sick children overcome their fears. She passed away a few years ago at the age of 13 a happy normal pup.

And now for Tootie my little sister, She came to us at the first of the year from a puppy mill as a breeding dog. She is about 1.5 years old and so full of life. When she was rescued they didn't think she was going to make it through the night. Both of her eyes and ears were infected and she had urine and feces burns on her skin that we are still tiring to clear up. She is very afraid of a lot of thing, the only thing she knew in the first part of her life was a 2x2 cage with a wooden floor. Dad and I have been working hard to help her get better fast. She now loves to play and is beginning to enjoy swimming. Tootie is always is so full of love and wants to learn. Trying to get her past her emotional scares is hard but with time she will do great.

A rescue is so full of love and wants nothing more then to be loved. Though it hard we all need to get involved in changing law and make animals something more then a object. Through all of the pain so rescues go through the still give unconditional love. So if you have a rescue give them a big hug, if not consider going to find one that will fit your life.

A dogs work is never done

Oh how a dogs work is never done around here! Over the last week dad and I have been working very hard at putting a new pond and waterfall in for our fish friends Fred and George as that lazy Boston Terrier Tootie was in her nice pink bed in the ac sleeping, We started by tearing the old pond out and raising the ground all around by 2 feet. We had to bring a total of 124 wheelbarrow's full of dirt in. After a lot of filling and leveling it was in, boy did I have some sore paws. Today we decided to take it easy and go for a long swim. Tootie quit before I did and decided to lay out in the sun and nap while I played till I was ready to drop Now I think it is time for a long nap I hope everyone has a a great day.

Worried

I sit here tonight worried that my daddy john is ok. He seems to be burring himself in a tone of work trying to escape the pain he is in on a regular bases.I almost feel like he is running himself so far into the ground that he will not be able to bounce back. You can see the worry in his face as he tries to get all of the Drs to help him. he tries so hard to help everyone he can but it still is just not enough for him to escape. he is now working hard to put in a new pond for our fish friends and I see it really pushing him to his limit. Then on top of that he has people attacking him for doing the right things, making rude comments about him and his illness, I never knew people could be so inconsiderate about others. My dad is a fights every day to survive, He always tries to do whats right and he always loves Tootie and I with all his heart.I just wish there was a way for me to help dad and make him feel better.I know how hard it is for him to just sit with the pain he is in and I know he fights every day but I also see he is getting very tired of fighting and that scares me a lot. So please keep dad in you thoughts that he will find a way to keep fighting.

My Thoughts

Yesterday a good friend of our the writer of Critters galore call dad to say
thshe had a pup at her house that had escaped from a really bad house in the area. This poor little boy was in such bad shape. He is way under weight has a really bad case of fleas. These people have the nerve to call themselves a dog rescue. the only thing they are doing is harming those poor dogs. But that's all about to change with some help from some friends I think we may have the proof we need to shut them down and save the dogs that are over there.I think it is time we start holding these types of people responsible for the way they treat dogs and cats.

The morning

Did you ever notice that thing in the morning are quite different? Some of us get up ready to take on the world while others like Tootie take their time getting up. The other day my dads physical therapist Jodie brought Tootie a nice new bed and well after she gets out of bed she rushes to her fluffy bed near the couch.

n. Well that's ok dad and I get up early and work in the yard. As we were getting ready to start putting the retaining wall in where we are installing the new pond a young male cardinal came down to get a drink .How nice it was to see this sight, As Tootie was sleeping I get to see nature at its finest. Also at this time of the day there is no loud music from the people in the back, just the sound of the birds singing. I love this time of the day seeing the world wake up.

done

. Well after a ton of painting we are done with Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs and I must say they look good. We stayed true to Dad's Mom's colors. That was so important to dad. Though it was hard at times for him, I truly enjoyed the stories he told us about her. She was a strong proud lady I wish I would have had the honor to meet her.
After we cleaned up all of the mess from painting dad went to Lowes to see if he could find some marked down plants and boy did he. We planted one of the flower beds with red and yellow flowers. Dad likes to by marked downed flowers because he says they need a home and with a little extra love the will be extra pretty just like Tootie. We sure have alot of fun doing things together be it a grand adventure or just a day working in the yard it really does not matter as long as we are together as a family I sure am one lucky Boston Terrior...................Have a great night

all work and no play

The old saying all work and no play makes Butch a dull boy is so true

. So we set out to do some more yard work and then spent about a hour in the pool. The last few days have been very very busy. We have 6 of the 7 dwarfs done and some of snow white. We also put a sealer on them to protect them from the sun. Then we cleaned the decking around the pool and cleaned all of the flower pots. Dad is going to Lowes to see if he can get some marked down flowers for the pots. Hmm I think dad might be up to somthing like maybe a cookout he sure seems to be tring to get alot done. Well I gusses I will just keep helping him out and we will see what happens. After all the work we spent the next hour playing in the pool, even Tootie had fun splashing around, she is getting really good. After swimming we sat back in the chair to admire all of the great work we have done. Now  I think it is time for a nap, and remember to take time to play so you will not  become dull.

hi ho hi ho off to work

Boy am I tired, we did a ton of work in the yard. We started out by
by first laying down landscape fabric and then  putting down a lot of mulch over a area of the yard that was just planted yesterday. We then moved snow white and the seven dwarfs out and mulched that area. Snow White and the dwarfs belonged to dad mom and when she died in 2002 from a car accident he recived them. After moving them he decided it was time to repaint them, the paint was all cracked and faded. So we carried the fist two over to a well shaded area and started to sand all of the old paint off and I noticed Dad starting to get upset, He had found a finger print that was his Mom's in the old paint. we sat there for a moment and looked at it then he stated that his mom would be really upset with the way they looked so we continued to sand. As we  painted we listened as dad told us stories of his mom and her love for these statues and her love for gardening. After we finished 2 of the dawrfs we went for a nice long swim.  I look forward to painting the rest of them to hear more about her. Now  every time I look at them I will think of the love that is with them.I also learned today what may seem silly to some means the world to others. Good night everyone and dont forget to hug someone you love.

all clear

Well after a week of worry and a lot of rain Tropical storm Debby is a storm
is now in the past. I have never seen so much rain I was begining to think it was going to rain cats and dogs. As you can see from the picture Tootie is just tired out. She does not do well in storms. She is very very afraid. I wish I knew what the poor little dog has been through in her young life .My Dad went out and spent most of the day cleaning out the pool so I could go swimming then he cleaned all of the yard and mowed the lawn, He worked so hard that I had to take a nap.

partners

I was sitting here after my swim and thinking about my partner Tootie and how much she has become a very  big part of my life. At night she cuddles tight next to me,I think it helps her feel safe.
I love starting my day waking up next to her sweet face and she always gives me a big kiss in the morning. I just know we are going to have  a great day together
After a little time and some work from my daddy Tootie has started to enjoy swimming. Today was the first day she stood on the step to the pool for a minute I thought she was going to jump in. I think in a few week she will be jumping in with me. After our swim today she got to wear her pretty green shirt, notice how she is sticking her tong out at Dad, Don't tell him but I dared her to do it and  I was shocked she did. Well I better go help dad finish picking up the yard we might be having a tropical storm coming in a day or two. Every one have a great day

What is traditional

I hear a lot now about traditional families lately and today I have been really thinking about  it. One of my dads had surgeries today and was I nervous. Thankfully all went well, after I heard dad was ok it made me think hard about what makes a family. For me it is all about my 2 dads and my little sister Tootie and yes even Midge cat. Its about the love and support we have for each other and when we are apart  I don't feel complete. When we are together there is no other place I would rather be. When I was sick I knew everything would be ok the love that was given to me made me push myself to get better. My family excepts me for who I am, my good and bad things I do. It truly is a family of unconditionally love . So to me that's what make a family.

6 month

Hi everyone,
Its been awhile. A lot has been going on. It has been about 6 months since I had the cancer removed from my side and I am just about back to normal. On the sad side of it has also been the same time that Dutchess crossed the rainbow bridge. Oh how I miss her. I am also worrying about my dad, he has to go get his knee fixed in a week. He has been working with Tootie on her swimming lesson, she is starting to get good.
We never know what the the next day will bring as I learned in December, but as long as we keep pushing through the hard times and enjoy the good times and keep the memories of those that left us alive, everything will work out. I stopped today and realized how lucky I am to have such a great family.

Thinking of

I was sitting around looking at old pictures and ran across a few old camping pictures. The first picture was  Jessie what a diva, She thought the world revolved around her as she should have. Jessie was a very abused puppy when she came to live  with my dad. She learned over time to trust again, she loved to spend her time helping sick kids tiring to make them feel better. The dog had a heart of gold and is truly missed.
These are three are the clowns. The first in line was Chelsea, what a brat, the two of us bickered a lot but between us she was my best friend. she always looked out for all five of us. Next was Dutchess my partner in crime we love to get into trouble. and last in the line was Mitzi, She was the one that talked back all the time to dad. She would get on her ball and run around the yard. I would run up and try to get her ball away from her, oh she would get so mad at me.

Some people may get sad when you see pictures of our loved dogs that passed but I chose to laugh and celebrate their life's. I love all of you guys

My younger years

Oh how when I see these pictures it seem as though they have been taken many many years ago. A lot has happened both good and bad but in the long run things have been great. Yesterday i had my vet check up and all was great no new lumps or no new health issues.

When we were leaving the vets office I looked at the paper work and I was shocked it said senior exam. But how could that be I swim every day.I play fetch every day, this must be a mistake. Well either way in dog years I am still younger then my friend Ed. I tried to borrow a super powered calculator to find how old he is in dog years, but it broke when I put in his age and tried to convert it. Oh well Happy Birthday Ed

Proof

As reported in another blog ,Critters Galore and so much More ,Things have been getting a little strange around here, and I have found the proof we needed once and for all that my good friend and neighbor Ahulee has been framed by those evil chicken. After reviewing all of the camera shots I was shocked to at what I had seen. I knew the other day I smelled chicken cooking and after looking at all the pictures and seeing them laying out both at the pool and in the lounge I found out why. The nerve using my pool and not cleaning up their feathers. I'm telling you they are pure evil, now to deliver this proof to Ahulee's mom and tell her she need to make things right with that poor Innocent dog

Splash

Hi Everyone
What a fun day of swimming. We got my dads Go Pro waterproof camera and took some great shots of me playing and just enjoying life to  its fullest. The water  was like a blue lagoon with the palm trees whispering above the pool.
I showed off some of my skills being able to retrieve two of my disk at one time and always working on improving my swimming skills.
I always keep a smile on my face as I swim, I cant help it sometimes its the small things in life that make you happy. As much as I was enjoying my day I had a feeling something was watching me. I have heard rumors about strange thing happening to other dogs, being framed around here for things  they did not do.Hmm I better look around....
Something sure seems fowl around here . I think I need to place some camera's around to prove once and for all that those chickens framed my poor friend on the other side of the fence, Ahulle I got you tail

recap

Hi everyone I decided today to give a brief recap of our adventure. It started when we arrived at our campsite, It was stunning the view of the lake from our front windows was breath taking. The symphony of the night was relaxing to say the least, the smooth jazz sound of the bull frogs to the calming classical sounds of the crickets, and the graceful dance of the fire flies made it the ideal place to relax.

..The journey to the Fantasy of Flight was incredible, all of the history of the air planes and the battles the had fought made my dad John realize he had to take action against some people that used him or history was bound to repeat itself. The picture below is of a Gee bee aircraft I think it is just the right size for Tootie and me to make a few good bone raids
We had a great time and learned a lot along the way. We took time away from every day life and stopped and smelled the roses as we all need to do from time to time. I hope everyone has a great day and remember to stop and smell a rose.

history

Hi everyone
My latest adventure is going really well. Yesterday was my dads birthday, I  will not tell you how old he is in doggie years because I cant find a calculator. We have spent a lot of time at Fantasy of Flight and I love the history that is there. We were lucky enough to be there when they brought in the latest airplane, It was a C47. This airplane was in WWII  used on D Day and also the Berlin airlift . As you watched this stately lady show herself in the rich blue sky you could not help but tear up knowing all the history and devastation that she has seen. After she landed we received a once in a life time offer and got to climb  up and see the inside.  We also that the black and white stripes on the bottom of the wings were so in all of the battles going we would know what was friendly aircraft. I am so glad we have had this adventure and it makes me proud  to be an American dog. Once again Happy Birthday dad and everyone have a great night.

the next adventure

Good morning everyone. Yesterday we arived at our next adventure and what a place it is. From the front windows of the motor home all you see is the lake with a nice long dock. The bird are all around, just this morning we have seen six sand hill cranes what a pretty bird they are.
As we wondered around the park yesterday we walked out on the dock to see the water, it was crystal clear and you could see all kinds of little fish swimming around. I wanted to jump in it was a hot 90 degrees .They do have a nice big pool but it states NO DOGS ALLOWED how mean. Next we wondered along the roads looking at all of the other sites. We were starting to over heat so we went back to the motor home  and made some dinner. It seem to me food taste better when your camping. Right before bed we went for a long walk along the lake. The sounds of night are so magical the frogs sing their songs as the fire flies danced in the moon light The big splashes in the water and the loud croak of the bull frogs as they played in the warm night air.
At that time we knew it was time to retire for the night we were so relaxed. When we arrived back at the motor home I looked over on the driver side seat to see Midge sound asleep under a towel that was placed over the steering wheel. I knew it would not be long before I too was sound asleep.

Today we head over to fantasy of flight to see all of the great history of airplanes, hmm I wonder if they will let  me fly one. well I will post more later. Everyone have a great day.

the get away plan

.
Hi Everyone, Today was bath day and Tootie and midge came up with a plan to escape and it could have worked but there was just a few problems. The plan was that Tootie would get dads keys to his new Toyota and then she would work the brakes and Midge would steer the car, sounds like a great plan but they could not figure out how to get it out of park and they ended up getting caught. If the would have ask I may have told them for a fee. Plus they were arguing over what CD to put in, Who let the dogs out or Cat scratch fever. Never try a plan like this with a cat they all have control issues
As you can see from the picture below Midge ended up going first and I had fun laughing at her. Its only a bath what the big deal. The whole time she cries and complains. I love the fact that I have such pretty fur after and on top of that we get a treat.Well i hope every has a great day

We won

Well Friday was great fun at the event and we ended up winning a big basket of toys and treats. We ended up seeing a lot and doing a lot that night, we got to eat hot dogs and Tootie and me got our pictures taken together. when I teach myself how to use the scanner I will post that picture. We also got to see a lot of our other four legged friends. Knowing there was big storms on the way we left early, Right after we got home dads phone rang and that's when learned we had won our prize so back we went. we are really enjoying our treats and toys
that we won. But lets not forget what the night was about. Its about helping others both four legged and two. I hope everyone has a great night.
